How to know if it is a common back pain or a worrisome kidney pain?
Spending hours in a chair has its price. And we don't say it because of that feeling that your buttocks "flatten", but because of the back pain . That many times it is so intense and is concentrated in the waist area that makes us believe that it is kidney pain . However, how to differentiate between the two, and when our kidneys are in trouble?
Back pain: what causes it and its symptoms
You are not alone in this suffering. The Mayo Clinic medical institute points out that back pain is the main cause of disability, and in most cases it has a simple treatment and in our home.
Some of its symptoms are:
- Muscle pain
- Throbbing pain
- Pain radiating down the leg
- Pain that worsens when bending, lifting, standing, or walking
- Pain that improves when lying down
Its causes are variable, but if the back pain appears suddenly and lasts less than six weeks, it is acute, and can be caused by a fall or lifting a heavy object. Although, if this pain lasts more than three months it is chronic.
The main conditions that cause it are: muscle pressure on the ligaments, bulging or herniated disc, arthritis, bone irregularities and osteoporosis.
How do you know if it's common back pain or kidney pain of concern?
Kidney pain, better known as renal pain, is distinguished by a dull, one-sided ache in the upper abdomen, back, or side of the body. It is very localized, the reason: the kidneys are located in the back of the abdomen, below the lower ribs, on each side of the spine.
The main difference between kidney pain and common back pain is that the former is caused by a disease or injury that in most cases only affects one kidney and is accompanied by the following symptoms:
- Shaking chills
- Fever
- Pain in the back, side, or groin
- Sickness
- Threw up
- Cloudy, dark, bloody, or foul-smelling urine
- Frequent and painful urination
When to consult the doctor?
If you have a constant dull ache, accompanied by the symptoms described above. Also, if you have recently had a urinary tract infection, see a doctor immediately.
